I respectfully request approval to attend the 2026 Professionalizing Law Enforcement–Community Engagement Training (PLECET) National Conference. This five-day event is designed to advance the increasingly important community engagement sector within law enforcement by providing specialized training, purposeful networking, and targeted professional development. PLECET is the nation’s only training event dedicated to strengthening the effectiveness, capacity, and operational skillset of personnel assigned to community engagement, community relations/affairs, outreach, and community-policing roles.

PLECET 2026 will take place May 27–31, 2026, at the Hilton Anatole in Dallas, Texas. After reviewing the agendas of the 2023, 2024, and 2025 PLECET Conferences, I am confident that participation in this year’s event will equip me with valuable knowledge, connections, and strategies to enhance my work and contribute meaningfully to our agency’s community engagement initiatives. I am therefore requesting approval to attend.

Attendance at PLECET will provide a unique opportunity to learn directly from subject-matter experts and thought leaders from across the country while gaining insight into emerging trends, best practices, and innovative approaches in law-enforcement community engagement. These insights will directly support my day-to-day responsibilities and further strengthen our agency’s efforts to build meaningful, impactful, and lasting partnerships with the community we serve.

The conference includes high-quality training courses taught by experts across all levels of public safety, workshops and seminars presented by leading community-engagement organizations, interactive panel discussions, and extensive networking opportunities. Attendees will also earn training hours for participating in the sessions, contributing to my continued professional development.
